Life Path Experiences:
1992-Present: Brisbane Academy Preparatory School 5901 Statesville Road, Charlotte, NC 28269. Director of Brisbane Academy Day and Evening Course Program. Purpose: To assist students in developing a LOVE for SELF and the overall learning process; provide an individualized curriculum and instruction to prepare students to meet daily challenges; Handle all administrative tasks such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, parent/student conferences, staff hiring, payroll, quarter and annual reporting, incoming and out-going mail, returning telephone messages, fundraising, grant writing and public relations, all special projects or events. Ordering textbooks, supplies and equipment. Overseeing maintenance of facilities. Accomplishments: Students score one to four grade levels above average on end of the year test results. Being able to shift perspective to enhance one's life.
1989-1992 Davidson College, Love of Learning Program, 102 North Main Street, Davidson, NC 28036. Test Taking and Study Skills Instructor. Purpose: Taught test taking preparation and study skills. Prepared students for standardized test ( i.e. SAT, ACT, etc.,). Taught speed reading and memory skills. Assisted students in overcoming test-taking anxiety, improving reading comprehension and vocabulary skills. Accomplishments: Assisted students in raising SAT and ACT scores to qualify for scholarships and college entrance. Improved study habits resulted in higher grades on tests and report cards.
1986-Present Brisbane Tutoring Center, Inc. 5901 Statesville Road, Charlotte, NC 28269. Director of tutorial program. Purpose: Responsible for consultations, scheduling, staff meetings, accounts payable & receivable, communicating with schools, hiring of staff, special summer programs and seasonal workshops. Overseeing progress of students. Educational evaluations and testing coordinator. Accomplishments: Assist students in mastering and improving foundational skills. Increased self-esteem for students due to improved report cards and test scores. |
